Gardens in Falmouth

Falmouth has one town Park and three main public gardens within the town limits with others of note within easy reach.

Kimberly Park. The towns main Park. These gardens date back to at least 1877

Fox Rosehill Gardens. Situated in Melvill Road. Originally owned by the Fox Family who gave part of it for public use at the end of the Second World war. The Fox’s were great plant collectors who imported plants from around the world

Queen Mary Gardens. Situated next to Gyllyngvase Beach they were established in 1912 and re-designed in 1992. They were originally the site of a river mouth

Gyllingdune Gardens. Situated next to the Princess Pavilion These unique gardens contain a superb Victorian bandstand surrounded by excellent formal gardens. The patio area provides free family entertainment throughout the summer whilst the theater hosts a variety of shows

Gardens within easy reach of Falmouth

Trebah Gardens. Situated between Mawnan Smith and Helford Passage approx. 5 miles outside Falmouth. This spectacular 26 acre ravine garden rated amongst the top 80 finest gardens in the world, falls 200 feet from the eighteenth century house down to the Helford River and a private beach. Glades of huge sub-tropical tree ferns and palms mingle with giant gunnera, furcraea and echium, with a great rolling canopy of Rhododendrons, some over 100 years old.

Carwinion Gardens. Situated approx. 5 miles outside Falmouth in Mawnan Smith Nr. Falmouth

Sheltering in a Cornish valley which runs towards the Helford River, the ten-acre gardens of Carwinion were created in the 1800’s. Azaleas, Camellia’s, Rhododendrons flourish and the garden contains the finest collections of bamboo’s in the UK together with tree ferns and other sub tropical plants.

Glendurgan Gardens Situated approx. 5 miles to the south west of Falmouth on the road between Mawnan Smith and Helford Passage.

This is a valley garden of great beauty with fine trees, shrubs and water gardens.The laurel maze, recently restored, is an unusual and popular feature. The garden runs down to the tiny village of Durgan and its beach on the Helford River.

Trelissick Gardens. Situated in Feock on the road from Truro to King Harry Ferry

This National Trust tranquil garden and estate is renowned for its glorious position at the head of Carrick Roads, with panoramic views down the River Fal estuary towards Falmouth and the sea.
The garden has been planted with an abundance of those tender shrubs so characteristic of Cornwall - camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias - together with many rare varieties of hydrangea and a newly-established Cornish apple orchard.

Walks through 500 acres of riverside woods and parkland sweeping down to the water's edge can be enjoyed all the year round.
Trelissick also features an art and craft gallery, a restaurant, shop and plant sales.
