Falmouth Rugby Football Club was founded in 1873 and is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in Cornwall and indeed in England. This year the club will celebrate 132 years of continually promoting the game of rugby football in our town and the surrounding area.

Penryn Rugby Football Club. Penryn Rugby football club is the oldest in Cornwall, having been formed 1872 and it’s centenary was celebrated in the 1972/73 season, with the highlight being a match between Penryn and a team selected from the 1971 British Lions, captained by John Dawes and accompanied by Dr,Doug Smith and Carwyn James.
Penryn is the home town of Vic Roberts, Roger Hosen and Ken Plummer, all of whom have won international honours,as did Eddie Richards in the 30s. Former captain Roger Harris was traveling England reserve on many occasions in 1970 and 1971, over 30 Penryn players have played for the Cornwall county XV in recent years.

Penryn Athletic Football Club. Penryn Athletic Football Club was formed in October 1963 by a group of schoolboys in a rugby stronghold. Progressing from the County youth system they joined the Falmouth/Helston League Division II in 1965, before gaining promotion to Division I in 1967. Ten years later in 1977 Penryn were elected to the Cornwall Combination League. The Club made their first foray into the South Western League in 1985 before returning to the Combination League. The 2000-01 season saw Penryn back in the South Western League finishing a creditable 15th.
The Club has been based at seven different home grounds but are now the proud owners of a first class pitch and clubhouse in a prime five acre site at Kernick Road, Penryn.
